Prof. Musili Wambua is currently the Managing Partner of Prof. Musili Wambua & Co Advocates. He has practiced law in leading law firms in the city of Nairobi and has accumulated experience of thirty-eight years specializing in civil litigation; international commercial arbitration; mediation, property transactions; and maritime law. He is a practicing arbitrator, certified professional mediator, certified public secretary and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).

He is currently serving as Professor of Law at the University of Nairobi (UoN) School of Law where he teaches maritime law, the law of the sea, insurance law and corporate governance. He has held the position of Associate Dean at the UoN School of Law (2010-2016) and Dean Kabarak University School of Law (2010). He has previously held distinguished public service appointments including: Commissioner, Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (2000-2005); Chairman, Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) (2013- 2016); Chairman of the Task Force on the Review of Maritime Laws (2002-2003); Chairman of the Task Force on the Rights of persons imprisoned, held in custody or detained (2011); Member of the Presidential Task Force on the Review of the Legal and Regulatory Framework on Religion ( 2023-2024) ; Vice- Chairperson of the Kenya Law Reform Commission (2019-2024); and Chancellor University of Embu (2016-2021). On account of his distinguished public service, the Head of State conferred him with the Order of the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) on 12th December 2024.

Prof. Musili Wambua is currently serving his second five-year term as the Chancellor of the University of Embu and as the founding Director of the Maritime Centre at the UoN School of Law. He is a former lecturer in civil procedure at the Kenya School of Law (1993-2008) and he has also been a visiting scholar in other universities and institutions of higher learning in Kenya, Rwanda, India, South Africa and Germany. A renowned scholar in Maritime Law, Prof. Wambua has published widely in his areas of research interest (Maritime Safety/Security and Corporate Governance) and has presented scholarly papers at national, regional and international conferences.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi; a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (with Distinction) from the Kenya School of Law; a Master of Laws degree (with merit) from the University of London; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) summa cum laude from United States International University - Africa; and a Doctor of Laws (LL.D) degree in Maritime Law and the Law of Sea from Ghent University, Belgium. He has won several academic awards and fellowships.
